Mapping Dutch Plant Groups

E-mail Print PDF

In the Netherlands volunteers collect data on the distribution of plant species. The data are gathered on a national level by an institution called Floron. The country is divided in cells measuring 1 square kilometer. The Floron database tells the user whether a certain species is present within a selected kilometer box. For easy analysis of these data, maps are indispensable. Deltares made this possible by building a flexible tool to display the data in a mapping package called Mapper.
